Overview
This program helps young people practice and polish their communication and leadership skills to prepare for the challenges ahead – at university, in business and beyond. In this program, participants will present their ideas to an audience of their peers, and share ways to connect and be understood by other people. Through mini performance presentations, they’ll try out and sharpen techniques to make themselves more effective in connecting with others. Working through public speaking exercises, they’ll build their power to connect, to be heard, and be understood.
Who is it for?
This program is for F5, F6 and F7 graduates who would like to improve their communication skills in preparation for, firstly, university and, later, the workplace.

Every young person has the potential to become a good communicator and leader, but this potential needs to be developed. “The program\\\\\\\'s unique two week, intensive, workshop-style design allows participants to develop their potential through practical experience.”
Course Topics
Participants will learn to: - Overcome nervousness when speaking before an audience - Organize and present ideas logically and convincingly - Listen carefully to others\\\\\\\' ideas - Offer advice to help others improve their speaking and leadership skills - Participate in - and also lead - group discussion or meetings Activities include: - Evaluating present speaking ability - Presenting speeches - Delivering impromptu talks - Evaluating others’ speaking skills - Organising a speech - Participating in group discussions - Using vocal variety and gestures - Making a speech conversational - Improving articulation and pronunciation
