Overview
Who is it for?
The BEC (Preliminary) course is for you if you need to use English in business or company administration. In order to gain most from the course, you should be able to write and speak at intermediate level.
The Cambridge BEC Preliminary examination is at a strong intermediate level.

You:
- are very motivated to make real progress in improving your English
- can set aside time every week to complete homework tasks
- want to gain an internationally-recognised qualification

What will I learn?
You will develop all language skills (speaking, writing, listening, reading) so that you can communicate comfortably in routine business and workplace situations.

You will learn to:
- use language that you have not used for a long time with confidence
- identify useful new language (e.g. vocabulary) and begin to use it yourself
- write about complex ideas more accurately, concisely and clearly
- enhance your confidence and clarity in speaking to build you professional credibility
- proof read your own writing to be more confident about its quality

Course activities also prepare you to take the BEC (Preliminary) examination. You will learn about the types of examination tasks and build your test-taking skills. Even if you do not plan to sit for the BEC examination, you will find all parts of the course useful.
