| For
more than 15 years CPBE has pioneered English-language
training in Hong Kong. Set up as a joint venture between
Hong Kong Polytechnic and eight major corporations, CPBE
continues to set the standard in dealing directly with
corporations, professional bodies, government departments
and schools to
meet their English-language needs.
Put simply, we help
you get ahead.

Our mission is to support everyone who needs to use
English; whether you are:
• an individual
• a company seeking to:
• recruit suitable employees
• develop existing employees or
• a school aiming to give teachers the best possible
support in their language teaching.
CPBE was set up in 1991 using a fund donated by major
Hong Kong organisations. Since then we have conducted
training and provided language support to many pre-eminent
companies and Government organisations. In addition,
we have welcomed thousands of individuals onto our
Business English programmes, some of which lead to
international qualifications issued by the University
of Cambridge, UK.
The Centre is now part of the School of Professional
Education and Executive Development (SPEED).
The School of Professional Education and Executive
Development is operated by College of Professional
and Continuing Education Limited which is an affiliate
of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Our areas of expertise include language assessment,
Plain English coaching , teacher education and school-based
teacher support programmes. All our staff are qualified
and experienced trainers with native English proficiency.
The majority are from UK, Canada, USA and Australia.
Whatever your English language needs, we can support
your and Hong Kong's successful future.
Since the beginning of the 90s, CPBE has worked
with more organisations than any other provider of workplace
English training in Hong Kong. The range of clients
that we have worked with demonstrates our adaptability to different contexts
and our ability to deliver different skills, from low level frontline customer
service skills to high level, sophisticated communication skills. We offer a
wide range of consultancy services as well as course design and delivery.

Testimonials
“I chose CPBE because of their comprehensive
training. They provided me with a wide range of
selection in English. I had a positive experience
because of their expertise.” – Kitty
Chung, Transunion Information Services Ltd.
“ I chose CPBE because of their focus on enhancing [specific] skills, rather
than the [proficiency] of the participants. This seemed to suit a commercial
organisation and has worked with clients similar to my company.” – Paul
Chow, Credit Suisse.
“ I chose CPBE because the trainers are well qualified and responsive to
users’ requirements. They provided me with training in general English
[and also] the skills for drafting specific documents. I noticed that my staff
are now trying to use shorter sentences and are more cautious in their use of
words.” – Bart Cheng
“ I chose CPBE because they provide customised training. It was a positive
experience because I got good feedback from the learners. I have noticed that
my staff have confidence in speaking English.” – Dick Ng, ImagineX
Group
“ I chose CPBE because the course outline proposed fitted our training
requirements. The approach was also customer focused. The trainer was knowledgeable
and taught well.” – Peter Ng, OMD
